Muş Alparslan University School of Physical Education and Sports was established by the decision of the Council of Ministers, with the publication of the Decree on the Establishment, Closure and Renaming of Faculties, Institutes and Schools Depending on Some Higher Education Institutions, numbered 2016/8969, in the Official Gazette dated 3 August 2016 and numbered 29790. . The Department of Physical Education and Sports Education in the 2017-2018 academic year, the Department of Coaching Education and Sports Management Departments in 2018-2019 started their education activities. The Department of Exercise and Sports Education for the Disabled, which was opened in the 2018-2019 academic year, started its education activities in 2019-2020. In 2021-2022, the Recreation Department started its educational activities. In this sense, it is one of the few universities with 5 active departments in the field of Sports Sciences.
In coordination with the Institute of Social Sciences, the graduate program of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Education started its education activities in the spring term of 2017-2018. In 2018, the Physical Education and Sports Education Department non-thesis master's program and in 2019, the Physical Education and Sports Department's PhD program started its educational activities. School of Physical Education and Sports has been transformed into Faculty of Sports Sciences in accordance with the decision numbered 2020/2654 on the Official Gazette dated 16 June 2020 and numbered 31157, “The decision on the establishment, closure, merging or renaming of institutes, faculties, colleges and academic units depending on some Higher Education Institutions”. .
In our faculty, 3 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 8 Dr. Instructor Member, 7 Research Assistants and 2 Lecturers. There are 11 theoretical classrooms equipped with technology where our students can teach theoretical lessons. In addition, there are 1 swimming pool, 1 multi-purpose gym, 1 fitness room and 1 Wrestling-Gymnastics hall in order to teach the students' practice lessons. Our faculty continues its education and training services with a total of 673 students.
