Our faculty member, Associate Professor Dr Atike Yılmaz from the Department of Exercise and Sports Sciences for Persons with Disabilities, has been elected to the Paralympic and Deaflympic Athlete Science Commission established by the General Directorate of Sports Services under the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In accordance with the official letter dated 11 February 2026, the appointment aims to develop sport in our country based on scientific principles, ensure sustainable success in performance sports, and prepare disabled athletes for international organisations with scientific support.
Revised within the framework of the Sports Education and Science Board's work, the commission will plan the infrastructure processes for preparing students identified through the sporting talent screening and sports orientation activities conducted each academic year for the Paralympic Games and Deaflympic Games in accordance with scientific principles.
